We invite student applications for participation in the following training programme:

The Application of Ocean Colour Remote Sensing in Primary Productivity and Ecosystem Modelling

Dates:  February 05 – February 26, 2012

Venue: Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad and National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) / Andhra              University, Visakhapatnam

Programme:  The training program will focus on basics of marine optics, ocean colour remote sensing, primary productivity and ecosystem modelling. The training will include lecture sessions, laboratory practical, field trips and hands on activities. The trainees are also expected to carry out a mini project focusing on the topics covered.

Eligibility and Prospects:  The training program is open to scientists, post-graduate fellows, and doctoral students involved in oceanographic work with specific reference to Ocean Colour Remote Sensing and its applications. The training programme is open to five participants from Indian Ocean countries and 15 participants from India. The trainees are expected to have basic knowledge of Ocean Optics and Remote Sensing along with basic computer skills. Preference will be given to the candidates already perusing their research or building a carrier in the above topics.

Application:  The interest candidates should fill the application form and provide a recommendation letter from research supervisor / Head of the Institute / Scientist working in relevant field. The successful foreign candidates will be provided air fare, by most economical route, accommodation and per-diem during their stay at Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. 10 Indian participants will be provided with Train fare (3A), accommodation and per-diem. Five Indian participants will be provided partial support towards accommodation and per-diem. Since travel funds are limited, applicants are encouraged to find external travel support if possible.
