Global Ocean Observing System in the Indian Ocean - IOGOOS

IOGOOS Origin

IOGOOS was formally established on November 5, 2002. 19 organisations from 10 countries have become Members of IOGOOS and agreed to collaborate and work together for the implementation of GOOS in the Indian Ocean and for promoting activities of common interest for the development of operational oceanography in the Indian Ocean region.

Dr. Mitrasen Bhikajee has stepped down from the position of IOGOOS Chair as he was unable to serve due to his new role as Deputy Executive Secretary, IOC/UNESCO. Subsequently, Dr. T. Srinivasa Kumar, India has been nominated and supported by the IOGOOS Officers for acting as a IOGOOS Chair. The following is the status of the IOGOOS offices as on June 02, 2011
