Faculty - The faculty comprised of Scientists from National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa and INCOIS. A wide range of lectures covering Characteristics of Marine Environment, Marine Ocean Productivity, Importance of Biogeochemistry in Biological Oceanography, Benthic Ecology and Demersal Resources, Remote Sensing Applications, Marine Ecosystem Analyses, Assessment of the Health of the Oceans, Fisheries and Food Security, Trans-Boundary threats in the Marine Environment, Mariculture and Society, Climate Change and Ocean Biology were delivered. A number of demonstration sessions related to biological processes - Ocean Productivity Processes and Measurements, Biological Sampling, Marine Bioinvasion & Ballast Water Aspects, Microbiological Methods, Ecosystem based services : Fishery and beyond, Advances in Telemetry Techniques were included. (For details see the Technical Programme). Participants were given a certificate of participation during the valedictory function.

International Training Course on 'Ocean Colour Remote Sensing - Data, Processing and Applications'

Faculty - The faculty comprised of Scientists from Plymouth Marine Laboratory, United Kingdom,National Remote Sensing Centre, Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Indian Institute of Technology (Madras) and INCOIS. A wide range of lectures covering Basics of Ocean Colour Remote Sensing, Ocean Colour Modeling, Bio-Physical Interaction in the ocean, Marine primary production, phytoplankton community structure from space, algorithms for phytoplankton classification, atmospheric correction and algal blooms were delivered. A number of laboratory sessions providing hands-on-exercises on SeaDas,phytoplankton classification, generation of primary productivity maps using satellite data were also planned (For details see Technical Programme). Participants were given certificate of participation at the end of the course.

Number of Participants - A total of 28 participants - 20 from India and 8 from seven foreign countries - Madgascar, Mauritius, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Ghana, Romania and Tanzania attended the course.

Faculty - The faculty comprised of Scientists from National Remote Sensing Centre, Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Indian Institute of Technology (Kharagpur) and INCOIS.
A wide range of lectures covering Basics of Remote Sensing, identification of Potential Fishing Zones using satellite data, dissemination of the advisories, review of ocean models, ocean state forecasts and various products were delivered. A number of laboratory sessions providing hands-on-exercises were also planned (For details see Technical Programme). Participants were given certificate at the end of the course.

Number of Participants - A total of 24 participants - 15 from India and 9 from seven IOR countries - South Africa, Italy, Comoros, Madgascar, Mauritius, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka attended the course.

Number of Participants - 30, including five from IOR countries [Australia (CSIRO, University of Tasmania), Belgium (University Catholoque de Louvain), Kenya (Kenya Meteorological Department), Nigeria (University of Nigeria , Togo (University of Lome)] attended the course. Six Institutes in India, viz. IITM, INCOIS, CMMACS, NIO, IISc and Jadhavpur University participated in the course. The selection of participants was done jointly by INCOIS and ICTP, Italy.
